Laura Johnson-Hughes, M.S.W., L.M.S.W. is a licensed clinical social worker who brings over 30 years of experience with a diverse population of children, teens, adults, couples and families. Laura implements a strength based and systems approach, with the goal to provide support and quality interventions for symptoms and situations. Her goal is to empower you and/or your family to build upon your strengths, learn healthy ways to cope and work to be the best version of yourself. She implements evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, person-centered interventions, mindfulness based treatment, play therapy and motivation interviewing, in her individualized treatment strategies.
Laura has specialized in areas of depression, anxiety, focus/concentration, communication, self-esteem, parenting, behavior management, work related stress, building work/life balance and strengthening relationships, with a health and wellness focus. She believes in educating individuals and families about symptoms, interventions and the science behind it all.

Laura earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oakland University. She has worked in home-based and office-based environments in the tri-county area. In addition, she has experience with maternal and infant health programs, supporting pregnant moms and infants.
