LGBTQ+

Is your child or teen struggling with their sexual orientation or gender identity? Has your child or teen come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning? Are you struggling to support your child or teen with their gender or sexual identity? Do you or your child or teen need help and support through this process of affirmation and acceptance?

When a child or teen comes out as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning, they may be confronted with many questions and uncertainty. Providing time and support is important and key to a life of acceptance and affirmation. Members of the LGBTQ+ community sometimes face opposition and discrimination in the larger community. As a result, LGBTQ+ young people are significantly at risk for mental health challenges and suicidal ideation. Yet, children and teens in accepting and affirming homes are more likely to feel safe, happy and supported. Being able to face those challenges with love and support can lead to a fulfilling life.

If your child is struggling with their sexual orientation or gender identity, we are here to help. If you’re struggling with understanding, supporting or accepting your child’s sexual orientation or gender identity, we are also here to help identify and process your concerns and support you as well. We offer guidance and support to children, teens, adults, parents and families to help develop effective strategies for navigating the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

Services include parent consultations, individual and family therapy. We also offer school advocacy to help ensure LGBTQ+ student’s academic and social/emotional needs are met at school.
