Kara Ettenson, M.S.W., L.M.S.W.

Kara Ettenson, MSW, LMSW is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in children, adolescents, and families. She has over twenty years of extensive experience working in outpatient mental health settings, schools and in a residential treatment. Her areas of specialty include the assessment and treatment of adjustment disorders, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, behavior problems, depression, divorce situations, grief and loss, and social skills training. She has run psychoeducational groups for parents and children with ADHD. Kara utilizes evidence based strategies and approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, skill building, and supportive therapy.

Kara is known for her strong compassion, dedication, empathy, and desire for truly connecting with all of her patients and their families.

Kara received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Kara is a member of National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

In her free time, Kara enjoys cooking, exercising, gardening, listening to music, singing, spending time with her family, and writing poetry.

Kara is currently accepting new referrals and will be working Monday through Friday in Farmington Hills and for teletherapy.
