Melissa Gonzales, LMSW, is a Licensed Master Social Worker with more than 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She provides a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients can feel comfortable being themselves, exploring challenges, and working toward meaningful change. Melissa believes that each person is the expert on their own life and works alongside clients to build on their strengths and develop tools that support growth and well-being.
Melissa has extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, attachment and relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, developmental differences, LGBTQ+ concerns, and life transitions. She has particular expertise in working with young children and families and has extensive experience in infant and early childhood mental health.
Melissa is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and is rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). Her approach is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and grounded in evidence-based practices, while remaining flexible and individualized to the needs of each client and family.
Melissa believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is an important foundation for healing and growth. She values authenticity, trust, and connection and strives to create a space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they work toward their goals.
Melissa earned her Master of Social Work degree from the Wayne State University School of Social Work, with a focus in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Eastern Michigan University. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively in community mental health and early childhood settings.
Outside of her professional work, Melissa is a mother of two who enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, dancing, and spending time with friends, family, and chosen family.
